How much does event videography cost? What actually affects the price

There's no single price for event videography. Here are the factors that shape a quote, so you can compare offers fairly and brief your videographer properly.

“How much does it cost?” is the first question most people ask, and it's a fair one. The honest answer is that every event is different, and a good quote is built around your specific event rather than a one-size-fits-all package. That's why we put together a custom quote for every project.

What we can do is show you what actually moves the price, so you know what you're paying for and can compare offers properly.

1. Coverage time

How long does the crew need to be on site? A two-hour product launch and a three-day festival are very different jobs. Coverage includes setup and pack-down too, not just the hours you want filmed.

2. Crew size and roles

One videographer can capture a lot, but bigger events often need several camera operators, someone on photography, a drone pilot or a dedicated audio person. Multiple stages running at the same time usually means more crew.

3. Deliverables

This is usually the biggest factor. A single highlight video is a very different scope from a hero film, vertical social cuts, artist clips, sponsor edits and a full photo gallery. The more versions and formats you need, the more editing time goes in.

4. Turnaround time

Speed costs editing hours. As a guide to our own timelines: a 60-second highlight reel can be delivered within 48 hours of the event, while a full-length documentary typically takes three to six weeks including review rounds. If you need something faster than that, it's possible, but plan for it in the budget.

5. Pre-production

Concepts, storyboards, shot lists, site visits and planning calls all take time, and they're what separate a planned film from footage that just happened to be captured. Bigger productions need more of it.

6. Travel

We work across Australia, Southeast Asia and internationally. For single-day shoots away from home, the client covers transport. For multi-day shoots, accommodation is needed too. A good videographer will spell all of this out during scoping rather than surprising you later.

7. Usage rights

Check who owns the footage and how you're allowed to use it. With us, full usage rights transfer to you on final payment. We keep the right to show the work in our portfolio unless you ask for confidentiality, and it's all written into the project agreement up front.

How to get an accurate quote

The more detail you share, the more accurate the quote. Send:

  • The event date, location and schedule
  • What you want filmed, and what the video is for
  • The deliverables and formats you need, with deadlines
  • A reference video you like, if you have one

Once a quote is agreed, a 50% deposit secures your date. Ready to start? Send us your brief and we'll put together a quote for your event.
